Our people
Nicky Connolly
Nicky, a distant relative of Julia, started work at the Crown Roast in December 2008. At first she helped Julia with the heavy fruit’n’veg boxes. Then her enthusiasm switched to meat after picking up tips from Habib. Now she is not scared to wield the meat cleaver.
Bob Goody
Bob is the co-proprietor of the Crown Roast. He comes from a proud Lingfield farming family. At the age of 14 he started cleaning the chiller room at John Mansons, then a well-known chain of South-East butchers, as a Saturday job. In September 2003, after several years experince with John Mansons and other local farms in the fish and meat trades, he seized the opportunity to reopen an unoccupied butcher’s and so started the Crown Roast.
Scott Goody
Scott is the proprietors’ son. He is very popular with the older generation – it could be his good looks or it could be that he takes the time to be helpful. He prides himself on his cooking skills and we can attest to his high culinary standards.
Julia Goody
Julia, co-proprietor of the Crown Roast, works in the Hurst Green shop using her deep knowledge of quality fruit and vegetables. She has extensive experience with plotted plants dating from her days working at a local garden centre. She is trained in the art of floristry so is happy to prepare bouquets for that special occasion. She also keeps the books straight – and keeps the boys on a tight leash.
Habib Rahman
Habib is the supervisor/manager at the Crown Roast running the meat counter practically on his own. He knows how to deliver that special cut of meat. He is a fully trained Tandoori chef having a wide in experience in restaurants in Ireland. In addition he does outside catering for weddings, birthdays and other special occasions. He is married to the proprietors’ daughter Paula and has two sons Russell and Lucas and so is a valued member of both the company and the family.
